Amen I Believe

Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Ottawa, Ontario has always been blessed with wonderful priests.

Last week we bid farewell to Father Yves Marchildon C.C. and Father Dennis Hayes C.C.

This past weekend we welcomed our two new priests Father Rob Arsenault C.C. and Father John Likozar C.C. and I know in my soul they will be awesome too. First impressions and all that.

Below, Father Rob Arsenault with Pat Maloney

Father Arsenault says the Amen sometimes when he mentions an Article of our Catholic Faith . I like that. And he invites the congregation to do so too. I REALLY like that. Amen says "so be it" and Creed means "I believe" right?
Whoever says "I believe" says "I pledge myself to what we believe." taken from the Vatican website at this link on the THE PROFESSION OF FAITH
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p1s2.htm

I know Catholics who actually voted for Justin Trudeau who as we all know is the most pro abortion Prime Minister in Canadian History. How can this be then? How can someone say they believe in the teachings of the Church and promote the killing of innocent children at the same time. And why would you say Amen to something that you don't believe in? I cannot comprehend this.

Anyways I'm thinking and hoping that maybe eventually in our parish the Amen will take hold: that is "we will pledge ourselves to what we believe"

From EWTN

The
Apostles
Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
Amen.

"The Apostles' Creed is so called because it is rightly considered to be a faithful summary of the apostles' faith. It is the ancient baptismal symbol of the Church of Rome. Its great authority arises from this fact: it is 'the Creed of the Roman Church, the See of Peter, the first of the apostles, to which he brought the common faith."

- from the Catechism of the Catholic Church; 194.

"This Creed is the spiritual seal, our heart's meditation and an ever-present guardian; it is, unquestionably, the treasure of our soul."

- Saint Ambrose.

Go and Announce the Gospel of the Lord

Beautiful homily from Fr. Yves Marchildon on this final day of Ruben's internship here at the Annunciation of the Lord Parish

Goodbye to Ruben and final blessing

Farewell Ruben

A blessed farewell to Seminarian Ruben Campbell as he concludes his internship with us here at the Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Ottawa today. We really enjoyed  his year with us .
Here are a few pictures I took of the parish celebration for Ruben after morning mass yesterday. Ruben will be joining a Renewal Ministries to Mexico City with other seminarians from the Companions of the Cross . Following his ministry he will take some vacation with his family before returning to the seminary in Detroit this fall. God willing , Ruben will be ordained to the diaconate, September 2016 and to the priesthood, June 2017.

Father Yves Marchildon C.C. Homily on Trinity Sunday, 2013

Father spoke of  The Spirit of Truth and relativism

There is  no true peace without truth . There cannot  be true peace if everyone is his own criterion, if everyone can always claim exclusively his own rights. without at the same time caring for the good of others .of everyone on the basis of the nature that  unites every human being on this earth.

And when we are dealing with individuals in charity and in kindness and respect for the other person we should still propose that these morals are true for them even if they don't want to accept them. It is true for them and it is true for the good of humanity . Most of us don't realize just how badly our culture is affected by relativism the spiritual poverty .

To repeat those word from Pope Francis
" In an age sceptical of truth, we believe not only that truth exists but that it is found through faith in Jesus Christ the Incarnate Son of God. The Holy Spirit brings us to Jesus. he guides the whole church into the fullness of truth"

40 Days for Life Campaign - Annunciation of the Lord Parish prays for an end to abortion

Today parishioners of the Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Ottawa were at ground zero to pray for an end to abortion.  Many from across the city came to pray with us including Frances and Eileen who are there almost every day. There were about 4 to 6 people per hour and at one point during the proclamation of the Word there were 18 present. Both Our priests Father Jerry Gauvreau C.C. and Father Yves Marchildon C.C. were there as well as Jorge who is a Seminarian with the Companions of the Cross.
I strongly believe that our very good participation today was largely due to the strong support of our two priests.  Father Jerry gave a strong pro life homily two weeks ago at all our masses and invited us all to participate in this important event.

I also noticed more support from passers by than other years. I think this is catching on. Thank you Lord!

Thank you to our parish reps; Melanie, Theresa and Lois and a special thanks to all who came out today!

from Father Jerry's homily - Sept 23 2012

We cannot be silent any longer – it’s time to be Pro-Life in this culture of death – and don’t let anyone tell you to mind our own business, because this is our business – as Christians and as Catholics, the child in the womb is our responsibility .
