Truth Goodness and Beauty

which leads you to the truth" Bishop Barron

Saint Monica and Saint Augustine, please guide us and pray for us!
Thank you!

When I got home I took a Panoramic photo of our house.
It's distorted so I don't think I am doing it properly. I stand still when I do it and I'm thinking maybe I am supposed to move with the camera perhaps?

Tomorrow I think I will take panoramas of the beautiful Church Gardens
Hmm, I don't know why I didn't think of that before

Due to COVID-19 attending a public Mass has become almost impossible. Priests however are still celebrating Mass every day. Several Companions of the Cross Parishes have taken, or are taking, steps to live stream their Sunday Masses. Below are links to parishes who are producing live streamed, or recorded, Masses.

Process/Pattern of Increase - Deacon Marc Gauthier

I asked Deacon Marc if I could post the homily he gave at the Tuesday morning mass this week and here it is:

Thank you Deacon Marc

Processes of Failure and Increase

2020-03-04

The foundation of the two processes mentioned below are based on the Kingdom Principle that God’s gauge for faithfulness is character development and cooperation with the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

The following are two Kingdom of God processes, or we could call them Character Processes - one that leads to failure and the other leads to increase, especially an increase in God’s grace in our lives so that we may live as faithful disciples. The word process best describes what happens, as one stage leads to another. I give you both so that you can appreciate the difference, but I will lay out a more detailed description of the Process for Increase.

First, the Process of Failure: four stages, or whatever you want to refer to them as, roughly happening sequentially - Deception, Distraction, Dislocation and Destruction.

The Process of Increase involves Identification, Involvement, Investment and Increase.

The process produces an increase of Sanctifying grace within us - the work of the Holy Spirit bringing about holiness and communion with the Trinity of Love.

We must first Identify with our Lord as the disciples did - in the first chapter of St. John’s gospel when they chose to seek out the Lord. Jesus awakens in them a desire to know more about Him, and He invites them to follow Him.

As the disciples watched and listened, day by day, they, and we, begin to get involved. I’m reminded of the distribution duties the apostles had at the event we know as the multiplication of loaves and fishes (see Matthew 14).We should want to be Jesus’ hands and feet, and spread the wonders of His love with others.

Then comes the Lord’s prayer into our lives.

“One day He was praying in a certain place. When He had finished, one of His disciples asked Him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray as John taught his disciples.’” (Luke 11:1)

Jesus was/is a Rabbi in so many ways. His disciples, like the disciples of any Rabbi, wanted to know the prayer of their Rabbi. In this way,  as Jesus offered them His prayer, they would be welcomed deeper into His life (“Put out into the deep…” Luke 5). They, we, would need to invest ourselves, go “all-in” as it were, and call God our Father.  Bit by bit we begin to discover what it means to live as His children, to seek His way of righteousness in all things and to trust in Him for all things.

We learn to live in ways that others will know that we receive the grace to love, as He loves us, from Him. Then, as He sends us out with His message of reconciliation (see 2 Corinthians 5:19), His Sanctifying grace increases in us so that He may be glorified.

Annunciation of the Lord - Parish Feast Day- March 25, 2019

I have heard it said that the Feast of the Annunciation is greater than any other.
This evening we had a beautiful Mass celebrated by Fr. John Likozar. Fr. Rob Arsenault and Fr. Dennis Hayes and assisted by Deacon Marc Gauthier and Deacon Will Read. Father Rob's homily was awesome and the music provided by Janet Warren was wonderful. I will provide a link to Father Rob's homily when it is on the Parish website.

Thinking out loud as we celebrate Canada Day

I love Canada. I think we have one of the most beautiful countries in the world . That being said I
I don't like the direction our leaders are taking us. We all know that abortion is legal in Canada for the full nine months of pregnancy for any reason or no reason. We care more for unhatched bird eggs than pre born babies. What the heck is wrong with us anyways???

When I saw the Irish people gleefully jumping up and down with tears of joy streaming down their faces celebrating their new found right to abortion in Ireland a few weeks ago, it literally made me feel sick. They are turning into us.

What can we do? Well we just  have to keep on doing what we have always done: peacefully tell the truth.  We will continue to be vilified by our mainstream media  and our politicians as being intolerant and hateful. It's depressing actually because it's just the opposite. It's slanderous really.

The Peaceful  March for Life on Parliament Hill attended by about 20, 000 is just one example of the goodness and stamina of the second  most persecuted person in Canada. The Pro lifer. The most persecute person in Canada is the child in the mother's womb.  A handful of shrieking crude abusive protesters that don't even know what it means to be Pro Life, blocked our route for the third year in a row while the police did nothing. I can't imagine any other group of people that would have to change their route in the manner that we were forced to.

I could go on and on but there's no point. We all know of the numerous negative ways that  that the pro life  person has been treated in our country during the past year. There is no question about it; this is persecution. I heard a lawyer say not long ago say that Christianity is the most persecuted Religion in  the entire world and that includes Canada. I believe this to be true

What else can we do?  Pray Pray and  Pray some more! This is a spiritual battle.

As A Catholic I pray the rosary each day for a change in the hearts of our political leaders.

A holy priest once told me that the Rosary is the weapon against Satan

At one time the Knights of Columbus of our Parish of the Annunciation of the Lord in Ottawa, ON led us in this rosary at least a couple of times during the year. I think we should start praying these prayers again

70th Anniversary of the 1947 Marian Congress - Blessed Sacrament Parish Ottawa - June 20, 2017

As part of the celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of the 1947 Marian Congress, Father Yves Marchildon C.C. and Father Dennis Hayes C.C. and parishioners of Annunciation of the Lord Parish joined Blessed Sacrament Parish for a wonderful evening. Father Tremblay Rector of Our Lady of the Cape Shrine delivered a dynamic message. Decadent Doms served up deserts and fancy franks. Thanks to all.
