78% of Canadians DON"T WANT Gender Ideology
- National Post
- Tristin hopper
After years of strenuously avoiding anything that carried a whiff of opposition to LGBT rights, Canadian politicians are now stampeding away from a policy of public schools unquestionably affirming the self-described gender identity of children without informing their parents.
In Canadian school boards from rural Alberta to the Toronto suburbs, the standing policy is that staff must immediately affirm the self-described gender identity of students. If a child expresses a desire to be known by a different name and pronouns — and to begin using bathrooms and other facilities in line with the new identity — teachers and staff are required to accommodate the transition and also withhold this information from parents upon request.
“Do not talk to anyone about (a student’s) identity, including parents/ caregivers, to whom they have not already disclosed their gender identity,” reads the official guidelines on “gender identity in schools” published by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
In a surprise move last June, New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs amended Policy 713 — a document governing gender expression in public schools — to require parental consent before a student could socially transition.
“Formal use of preferred first name for transgender or non-binary students under the age of 16 will require parental consent,” reads the amended policy.
Higgs faced a caucus revolt over the change but countered that he was prepared to call an election over the issue.
Last week, Saskatchewan also announced that parental consent would henceforth be required for a student under 16 to assume new pronouns or a new name (students over 16 can do it without parental consent).
“I’ve been asked what experts we consulted in creating the Parental Inclusion and Consent policy,” said Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe in a widely circulated Sunday social media post. He added, “I believe the leading experts in children’s upbringing are their parents.”
Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson announced plans earlier this month to amend the province’s Public Schools Act to broaden “parental rights” surrounding gender identity. “Parents want to know what’s going on in the day-to-day lives of their children,” Stefanson told reporters on Aug. 17.
And on Monday, Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce told a news conference that “parents must be fully involved” in circumstances when a child decides to go by different pronouns at school.
According to polls, Canadians are in favour of this new tack.
Even before Higgs went public with changes to Policy 713, a May Leger poll found that 57 per cent of Canadians favoured some form of parental notification in cases where a student was changing their gender identity. Only 18 per cent supported the status quo of concealing a student’s gender transition upon request.
The results of an Angus Reid Institute poll released Monday were even more decisive. Of the respondents, 78 percent said that schools should inform parents if students change their pronouns, and 43 percent said it shouldn’t be done without explicit parental consent. Only 14 percent agreed with the statement “Parents should neither be informed nor have a say — it’s up to the child.”
Progressive politicians and LGBT rights groups have been quick to call the proposed changes transphobic or even hateful. In a column for CTV, former NDP leader Thomas Mulcair said Higgs and Moe were “promoting discrimination and intolerance” in a cynical bid for votes.
Former Ontario premier Kathleen Wynne accused Lecce of using parental rights to “cover their trans and homophobia.”
In an op-ed for the National Post, Ontario trans woman Julia Malott struck a different tone: “This isn’t anti-trans, and isn’t necessarily anti-transition. It’s pro parent-child relationship.”
Although the pushback is coming exclusively from conservative governments, it’s a marked turnaround for a Canadian political establishment that has previously been intensely reluctant to oppose any issue framed as a new frontier in trans rights.
Just two years ago, the Conservative Party of Canada voted unanimously in support of a Liberal bill pitched as a ban on “conversion therapy.” This was despite concerns that the legislation was so broad that it effectively criminalized the mere act of a therapist questioning a patient’s decision to adopt a new name and gender identity.
In contrast to his recent statement on in-school gender transitions, Lecce has been much more guarded in his response to the saga of Kayla Lemieux, an Oakville, Ont., shop teacher who began showing up to class last September wearing oversized prosthetic breasts.
Lecce has repeatedly refused to intervene in the matter, beyond statements urging Lemieux’s school board to uphold higher “standards of professionalism.”

A Massive Betrayal - Brian Holdsworth - How did we as a Church Respond?
They came from the largest international agencies we have, like the World Health Organization or national agencies like the CDC or Health Canada. And they told local authorities what to do. And then they dutifully did so.
They proposed these one size fits all solutions for vast populations of people spread out over huge geographical areas. Really, I mean, globally, if we're going to be honest about it, with no nuanced, no appreciation for exemptions to these rules, exceptions to these rules, of which there were countless.
This approach, if you haven't detected already, is a vulgar infringement on the principle of subsidiarity.
- And how did we as a church respond? Sadly and much to my own lament we were silent. We kept silent, we acquiesced our moral authority to the United Nations, pharmaceutical conglomerates and agencies like the CDC and lastly, what about that poke? That was imposed through coercive measures, if not mandated.
Everyone, regardless of age, risk factor, natural immunity, or general health was told that they must cooperate in this collectivist policy. No appreciations or allowance for nuances and specifics like. What if I'm in an age group that has virtually zero risk of getting seriously sick? Oh well, you need to do it to prevent you from passing it onto others, well then again this sort of collectivist mindset, well, we now know that that didn't even work. It was utterly ineffective at producing that effect.
But millions upon millions of young people were coerced into cooperating with a policy that was based on incomplete research, which we now realize turned out to be wrong. And because the lack of prudence in this could have been sniffed out for miles away with anybody who had a critical instinct or a mustard seeds worth of prudence, many people refused and were fired from their jobs and refused unemployment help while being outcast and villainized by the media who received themselves untold billions from the payouts money that Mr Poilievre is still wondering if anybody knows what the source of it is.
- I made a video a few weeks back from which I admitted that I was struggling and I don't think I was entirely candid about all the reasons why I was really struggling. I think I can be a little a little more upfront about that now. I was really disturbed by what I was seeing going on and I had expected that in, in a time of crisis, in a time of struggle and confusion those of us who are Catholic, we should be able to turn to the church for clarity and for refuge. But I feel like we as a church betrayed ourselves and those we keep professing to care about, the poor.
What was really happening? Is that we were scared and so we hid in our homes. And not everybody could do that of course, the most vulnerable and the most poor couldn't just do that.
And cowardice. Cowardice is bad enough. But then to hide behind their facade of social justice while simultaneously throwing the poor into further destitution and then congratulating ourselves for doing our part for the common good. That's revolting, and I'm sorry for being so critical and so negative, and I hope that doesn't drive you to the point of despair.
I think it might be helpful to know that this kind of thing isn't unprecedented in the Church's history. When Henry the eighth declared himself the supreme head of the church in England, the majority of bishops ratified the act. Those clearly heretical and, motivated by his lust for women and power. In fact, I think St. John Fisher was the only Bishop correct me if I'm wrong, who refused to go along with the program and he lost his head for it.
Now fortitude is a cardinal virtue as defined by natural law and upheld by church teaching, and I think it's time we all re-familiarize ourselves with it because It is seriously lacking in this age we live in. It means courageously doing what is right, even in, especially when it's hard to do and it might cost you something, and it seems to me that this is obviously something that very few people were willing to do through this crisis. And it's why it was made far worse than it needed to be. And our Lord's words come to mind when I think about that. Enter through the narrow gate for wide is the gate that leads to destruction. And as the modern world approaches, it's next great crisis due to the frailty of the principles that it now relies upon: the fallacious principles.
Which to say that we should expect there to be another crisis before long? Consider being one of the few who will stand up for what is right and true. Even if you end up in the minority as a result"

Update Today February 2 from Pat Maloney - Run with Life
If you are interested in what and why the truckers are doing what they are doing, this is an excellent independent analysis from Andrew Lawton who was there all weekend. He interviewed a lot of people including the organizers, indigenous people, and politicians, and others. About 43 minutes long. Andrew's fist hand observations are NOT what you will hear from the mainstream media (Postmedia, CBC, etc).

Andrew Lawton Interviews Conservative MP Leslyn Lewis
Andrew Lawton
What brings you out today why are you on parliament hill?
Leslyn Lewis
Why wouldn't I be? This is democracy. This is what democracy is all about. People believe that the government has overstepped with mandates and they're here to exercise their democratic right. People give the government the power to act in accordance with their values. The government doesn't have any independent power. It is us that confers the power on the government. Where they overstep the people, then the people have a right to voice their opinion. What we've seen in the past year with the demonization of people, turning people against each other, the hatred that has been spewed from the highest levels is completely unacceptable and the people have had enough and they are here to voice their opinions and I support any peaceful active democracy and all I've seen here is law-abiding Canadians express their voice which they're allowed to do so why wouldn't I be here?
Andrew Lawton
Do you think the Conservatives have done an adequate job representing these people throughout the pandemic in the last couple of years or even during the time you've been in office the last few months?
Leslyn Lewis:
Well, I've always spoken out. You've seen that I've always spoken out from the beginning about things that concern my constituents I will always be a voice from my constituents. I will never be silent so I believe that MPs Act in accordance with the voice of their constituents yes?
Andrew Lawton
For a lot of people there is not about whether you're pro or anti-vaccination it's about the fundamental message. it's about government overreach. Is that resonating with what you are hearing from your constituents on the ground?
Leslyn Lewis
Absolutely whether you're vaccinated or non vaccinated it's about the mandate and whether or not their mandates are fair whether they adhere to public health principles because that's what we're concerned about we want everybody to be safe. We want everyone who is able to be vaccinated to be able to exercise informed consent: that's what we're concerned about. So it's not about whether you're vaccinated or not it's about government overreach

Update Today February 1
One of the organizers of the convoy is an Indigenous woman, and another is a Jewish man. Yet at a press conference, yesterday Trudeau claimed the freedom movement is tarnished by Nazi and racist sympathies. What's he talking about? There is no indication of this whatsoever.
We all know that the organizers specifically wanted to meet with the Prime Minister to express their frustration with the vaccination mandates etc. but he refused to meet with them and seemingly went into hiding instead. He fled Ottawa just before the convoy of trucks arrived, citing exposure to COVID, even though at the time he tested negative. Today he tweeted that he had tested positive despite being triple vaccinated. Really?
From lifesite news https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/trudeau-equates-canadian-truckers-at-freedom-convoy-rally-to-nazis-racists/?utm_source=featured&utm_campaign=canada.
"Within the first couple of minutes of the press conference, Trudeau said that “freedom of expression, assembly and association are cornerstones of democracy, but Nazi symbolism, racist imagery … are not.”
He was asked by a reporter if he would meet with the truckers or attend the protest, as he attended, for instance, the Black Lives Matter (BLM) demonstrations during the height of lockdown in 2020, but he said he would not. “I have attended protests in the past when I agreed with the goals,” referring to BLM, but he is choosing to stay away from the trucker protest because of “hateful rhetoric” and “violence toward citizens.”
Trudeau’s expressed unwillingness to support the trucker convoy movement due to his belief that there is a risk of violence associated with the movement is in contrast to his government’s past actions that saw him hand over a compensation cheque of $10 million to a convicted terrorist who killed an American soldier.
