Update on 40 Days for Life and the Movie Unplanned

I received this from Wanda Hartlin our 40 Days for Life Coordinator

The movie Unplanned is being shown at Holy Cross church, 685 Walkley Road, Ottawa, K1V 6R8 on Friday October 18 at 7:00 pm in the parish hall. A free will offering will be taken up for Miriam Centre. If you plan to attend please notify the church at 613-731-7834 or email office@holycrossparish.com

The prayer vigil for the 40 Days for Life campaign continues daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm at the vigil site on the southwest corner of Bank and Queen Streets. We’ve already had an incident of theft ...so when there is no committed church or ministry to look after the site, the supplies are being kept at St. Patrick’s Basilica in the basement Scavi, beside the book store. This year 24 of the 40 days have been chosen as vigil days. We still have open days if you would like to help out with your group for a day, or part of a day.

In the week coming up, Monday and Tuesday are uncommitted days. For the Catholics on this contact list, please remember that Monday is the feast of the Holy Rosary. Wednesday morning has been chosen by a church group for their parish vigil but the afternoon is not covered. And none of the remaining Fridays of the campaign are covered. Can you spare an hour to come and pray for an end to abortion?

Check the vigil calendar - more information can be found on the website, https://40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/ottawa/ Local information is on the right-hand side of the page under RESOURCES.

Lord we pray for the little ones waiting to be born, that their mother’s will say, “yes” to the precious gift of life that You are giving them.

Yours for Life,

Ste. Therese and her Little Way

Everybody is familiar with Saint Therese of Lisieux and her little way which seems to put holiness of life within the reach of ordinary people like you and me.

Remember the Baltimore Catechism and the question "why did God make you?"

"God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven." In other words, we are made to be saints.

The more I seek God the more I will get to know Him. The more I get to know God, the more I will love Him. The more I love God, the more I will want to serve him and the more I serve God, the closer I will be to becoming a saint.

At the closing of his homily today Deacon Mark said " let us pray in the name of Jesus our Lord and through the power of the Holy Spirit that the "little things" we do will draw us closer to the Father. Amen"

Ste Therese of Lisieux, pray for us and guide us in the way of holiness.

40 Days for Life today September 27, 2019

After attending 12:15 Mass at Saint Pat's, I walked over to the corner of Bank and Queen ( the 40 Days for Life Location )  to meet Lois.  Helena was just leaving when I arrived.  Lois and Tom arrived shortly after I did and together we prayed the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

At 2:30 Lois and I walked to our favourite bread Store ( Bread and Sons ) which is located South on Bank between Gloucester St. and Nepean St. We were disappointed that there were no loaves of bread left when we got there.. Oh well the walk did us good.

Dear Lord Jesus, have mercy on us!
Mother Mary, pray for us!
Saint Joseph, pray for us!
All You Holy Angels and Saints, Pray for us.

Ultimately faith is the only key to the universe: Canada has ceased to be a Christian nation

Ultimately faith is the only key to the universe: Canada has ceased to be a Christian nation:

Canada has ceased to be a Christian nation

from Patricia Maloney

From the parish priest at Mass yesterday at St. Edward the Confessor in North York.

The Jesuit theologian Karl Rainer (1904-1984) famously said “the Christian of the future will be a mystic or will not exist.” The priest likened this to mean that for people without a personal experience of God, Christianity will cease to exist. This seems to haves come to pass in Canada.

Some countries support the religion of the people. Pakistan supports the Muslim religion. India supports the Hindu religion. Russia supports the Russian Orthodox religion. The Philippines supports the Catholic religion. But Canada does not support the Catholic religion. It did at one time, but not anymore. The culture does not carry us. It is now up to our Christian communities to carry us.

Thank you Lord!

Every Tuesday morning following the 9:AM Mass, at the Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Ottawa, we have the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 4:00PM

I  prayed the Divine Mercy non - stop this morning for a very special intention .

Thank you Lord for listening to my prayers.

God is good all the time and all the time God is good!

40 Days for Life Begins, Fall 2019,

From Wanda

The Fall 40 Days for Life campaign begins next week and lasts from Sept. 25 to Nov. 3. It’s a time to storm heaven, with our prayers, sacrifices and fasting for an end to abortion.

Join us at the kick off rally on Sunday September 22 at 7:00 pm. We are gathering at the vigil site, beside the CIBC Bank (84 Bank St), just outside the bubble zone, on the southwest corner of Bank and Queen Streets. Free parking is available on the city streets after 6:00 pm and in the underground parkade at 235 Queen Street (between Bank and Kent Streets) daily after 5:00 pm and on weekends and holidays. See the website, 40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/ottawa/ for more information on parking in the downtown core.

Our guest speaker is Father Pierre Champoux, Director of Vocations for the Archdiocese of Ottawa and Cornwall and music will be provided by members of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral choir.

Let’s begin this year’s 40 Days for Life campaign in a big way and show Ottawa that we care about the unborn. We’re ready to stand up for them.

Everyone is welcome. Come out and give the campaign a great start.

Yours for Life,

Wanda

Visiting Chris, Yu Shu and Samantha, September 2019

Friday

Chris met us at the train station and we took the subway to their place of course.
It's approximately a 40 minute ride

Shortly after we arrived Yu Shu ordered the best Chinese Food we ever tasted.

On Saturday
Mike and I went to Loblaws and bought a few things and
then had breakfast sandwiches at the Tim Horton's next to the store.

In the afternoon, Chris and baby Sammy and I went for a walk
to Saint Edward the Confessor Catholic Church
so we wouldn't get lost Sunday morning. We almost did anyways haha.

below is a small museum we passed by

On Sunday

Mike and I went to mass at 9:30 After mass I said a prayer and touched a rock from Lourdes
at the beautiful Grotto behind the church.

In the afternoon Chris and Yu Shu and baby and I went to Shepherd St. Mall to check out LA Fitness.
Later on in the afternoon, we drove to get ribs for dinner and we came across the Polish Festival.
Folks were having a lot of fun in spite of the rain.
I even found a place where I was able to buy a couple of Polish hats.
We decided to eat our ribs in the restaurant rather than taking the food home as originally planned
Grandma reading to Samantha after Sunday Mass

A couple of videos I took of the Polish Festival

Monday
I went with Chris and Samantha to the gym and looked
after baby for about an hour while Chris
used the Gym

Thanks Chris and Yu Shu and Baby Samantha for the very fun weekend!
