I have read the document and I agree that it doesn't seem to change Church Teaching but that being said it sort of undermines it. Why was it necessary in the first place then? I see so many problems with this especially in this post-Christian world of ours. Immediately after the document was released Father James Martin caused scandal by jumping on the bandwagon with reporters and cameras and the whole kit and caboodle so the whole world could see it The document made it clear that any blessings must not cause scandal. And Father Martin is one of Pope Frances's favourite priests it seems so what the heck is that All about? If that's not scandalous then what is? Just saying Here in Canada, we have pornographic material in elementary schools as part of sex education and I am talking about all the schools. Our Catholic schools don’t even teach the children the Truths of our Catholic Faith anymore. The harm that is being caused to our children is so sad to see. We have girls being told they can be boys and vice versa. Puberty blockers and surgery to change one's sex is promoted everywhere. I haven’t heard our pope condemn any of this abuse. I have written to our Bishops. There is never a response. I have heard hardly a word from most of priests.

So why not a document from the Vatican addressing this problem Those with same-sex attractions are suffering and not grandstanders like what you see with the likes of “The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” sacrilegious performances. The physical moral and psychological abuse in the schools with this indoctrination is criminal. And if parents try to help their kids? Lord have Mercy! Another thing is that LGBTQ+ is far more sinister than men and women struggling with same-sex attraction. There are parades every year, everywhere with the most depraved demonstrations of sexual behavior in front of little children. Men dressing as clownish women are celebrated now everywhere. Drag shows in children’s libraries. It is so insulting to women as well. Can people not see the harm? Unfortunately we seem to have a generation of very stupid parents who find the whole thing amusing I would like to add that priests like James Martin's grandstanding as he did with the LGBTQ Flag is not helping those struggling with same-sex attraction at all. All it does is make all the REAL atrocities going on right under our noses that I mentioned OK, and they are NOT OK

Well just as I was saying that the pope hasn't addressed this issue. Now he says he will address this issue. I Praise Jesus

VATICAN CITY — The Vatican’s doctrinal chief has revealed that his dicastery is writing “a very important document on human dignity” that contains “a strong criticism” of immoral trends in contemporary society.

Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, the Vatican’s prefect at the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), told the Spanish news agency EFE on Friday that the new document will include “not only social issues but also a strong criticism of moral questions such as sex-change surgery, surrogacy, and gender ideology.”

The news comes days after Pope Francis spoke out against surrogate motherhood, calling it “deplorable” and advocating a global ban. Francis has also often criticized gender theory, referring to it as “dangerous” and “one of the most dangerous ideological colonizations” that blur the differences and value of men and women.

In November 2022,  Dutch Cardinal Willem Eijk, a former physician, called for a papal encyclical to combat the false anthropology at the heart of gender ideology. “Gender theory is being pushed in all kinds of organizations and we as a Church have not said that much about it,” he said in an interview.

• Jesus' Birth in the Stable in Bethlehem

• After Mary and Joseph the Shepherd and the Magi were the next ones to see the beautiful Face of Jesus

• Simeon and the Prophetess Anna, the Presentation in the Temple ( Blessed are the Pure of heart for they shall see God.

• The Apostles and Disciples of Jesus at the Transfiguration

• 33AD. Saint Veronica at the Sixth Station of the Cross, as a sign of her love and compassion offered our Saviour her veil to wipe the blood and sweat from His face as He carried the cross. For her charity and compassion, Jesus left an impression of His Holy Face upon the veil. The meeting of our Lord and St. Veronica is forever memorialized in the Stations of the Cross

• First to the fourth Century A.D  According to tradition, Saint Veronica later entrusted the veil to Saint Clement a Disciple of Saint Peter who became the third bishop of Rome. • 1849 Venerable Leo Dupont: Holy Man of Tours

• Miracle of 1849 in Rome and the connection to Venerable Leo Dupont

• 1849: Soon after the death of Sister Marie, a revolution erupted in the Papal States. Pope Pius IX ordered public prayers to be offered in Rome to implore God’s mercy, and Veronica’s Veil was put on display for public veneration for three days. On the third day the sacred features of Our Lord, normally faded, became distinctly seen and surrounded by a soft halo of light. • 1849-1876: After the miracle of the Holy Veil, it was customary to have copies of the Holy Face made. These copies would then be touched to the original Veil, making them objects of devotion. A holy man named Leo Dupont hung one of these copies in his home, accompanied by an oil lamp. Those who would say the devotional prayers and anoint themselves with oil from his lamp would receive healing. For the next 30 years, miracles of healing occurred in his home through adoration of the Holy Face 

• 1885: Because of the miracles credited to the Holy Face, Pope Leo XIII established the devotion as an Archconfraternity for the entire world. Saint Therese of Lisieux and her family were members of this Archconfraternity of the Holy Face. She was so faithful to this devotion that she took as her religious name, "St. Therese holding an image of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, both of which she took for her religious name. The Archconfraternity was founded, on October 1, 1885, and was formally approved by Pope Leo 13 not just for France but for the whole world in perpetuity

Saint Therese was introduced to the devotion by Sister Agnes of Jesus. She studied it in a personal way, using the texts of Isaiah. She did this principally at the time of her father’s illness.

She signed her name for the first time as "Sister Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face” the day she received the habit on January 10, 1889.

Before her death on September 30, 1897, after she was taken to her infirmary bed, she “pinned her favorite holy pictures on the brown curtains surrounding her bed… The Holy Face of Jesus, the Blessed Virgin, her `dear’ Theophane Venard…”

• 1. Requirements of Archconfraternity of the Holy Face

Enroll in the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face

2. Recite every day for the intentions of the Archconfraternity  Members one our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be.... and say 

"Lord, show us Thy Face and we shall be saved."

3. Members should wear an effigy of the Holy Face, either a cross, medal or scapular.

4. Avoid Blasphemy and profanity of Sundays and repair those evils by interior acts of reparation

5.  To attend as often as possible a monthly meeting

6..To extend and promote as much as one can the devotion to the Holy Face of our Savior

• 1958: On April 17th, 1958, His Holiness Pope Pius XII approved the observance of a Feast of the Holy Face of Jesus on Shrove Tuesday (the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday).

Paula's Christmas tree

For about a year Paula has been asking me to help her edit her videos. I thought it would be a simple task to download them from her Android phone to her Chrome Book. NOT!

On Saturday, we tried but didn't get very far: I don't know if it is even possible. After fumbling for a while we gave up. I think there is a solution but we'll figure it out another time. 

Paula heated up a really yummy Dr. Oetker pizza and we watched a really excellent documentary ( The Last Days ) by Stephen Spielberg. Trailer here The film traces the compelling experiences of five Hungarian Holocaust survivors who fell victim to Adolf Hitler’s brutal war against the Jews during the final days of World War II.

This recent, show of hatred for the Jewish people, especially within Universities, and not just students but professors as well, makes me think that this generation knows very little about the horrors of the holocaust. Either that or they are terribly cold-hearted. I wonder if our High school students even take history anymore.

Barb and I went to 9:AM mass at Saint Monica Catholic Church. We were blessed to have Bishop Yvan Mathieu celebrate Mass along with Fr. Champoux and Deacon Andre. 

In his homily, Bishop Yvan spoke about the Saint Monica Parish Advent Mission and our Lady of Guadalupe I love Bishop Yvan. He is so easy to listen to and he's funny. I love that

After mass, all were invited downstairs to the recently renovated parish hall for a chance to meet the bishop and have coffee and tea and yummy treats, which included homemade donuts like our mom made for us when we were kids. I miss you Mom!

After mass, we went back to Paula's for breakfast
