Unplanned the movie - Article by Deborah Gyapong

Two theatres cancel showings of pro-life movie 'Unplanned' after threats
Deborah Gyapong

“They were originally going to (screen it) and were able to endure a lot of negative publicity,” said B.J. McKelvie, a Fredericton pastor and president of Cinedicom, the Canadian distributor of the U.S. film about former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson who became a pro-life activist after witnessing an ultrasound-guided abortion. “They got a lot of positive support as well.

“Then things took a turn,” he said. “There started to be more serious threats towards managers and the families of theatre owners.

“There were two that were reported back to me that were death threats," McKelvie said.

Here is the communication I received.

It’s opening weekend for the pro-life blockbuster of the summer.
Unplanned hits theatres across Canada starting tomorrow, Friday July 12th, and you don’t want to miss it.

The film tells the story of Abby Johnson’s journey from her life working inside the abortion industry to becoming one of the most prominent and committed voices of the pro-life movement today. Her remarkable transformation goes back to one singular moment at an abortuary – and what she saw, changed everything.

If you don’t see a location near you, don’t worry, here’s what you can do:

1. Contact your local theatre. Consumer demand can open doors!
2. Book a buyout at any Landmark or Cineplex (see restrictions and information below)
3. Book a buyout at your local independent theatre. To find out more about how to see Unplanned in your community, click

Plan a pro-life movie night

To stay “this is the movie the abortion industry doesn’t want you to see” isn’t a sales pitch. In the past week, Katie Telford, Justin Trudeau’s chief of staff, took to social media to vent her outrage that Unplanned was going to be played in Canada. Can you believe it? That's why it's so important that we flood theatres for the opening weekend, Friday July 12th.

The best way to show the Prime Minister’s office, and their buddies in the abortion industry, that there really is an audience for pro-life movies here in Canada, is to make plans to see Unplanned this weekend.

Thanks and God bless.

PS - It is SO important to bring as many people with you to see this movie as you can, and be sure to check out the
Unplanned website for updates on new theatre locations.
