Entrance Procession
Thank you Fr. Siok
based letter from letter to the Ephesians. The largest theme of the whole letter and that theme is unity of the spirit. Unity of the spirit reminds us of course that we're all baptized into Jesus Christ in the father, son, and holy spirit. And so follow the holy spirit. We all have people spirit and grace. So it follows that we should be one. We all have to see this. The great scandals of course is the Christian church. We have so many visions of ourselves as Catholics. We have both faith, one family. We should all have the same creed. We all should believe in the same thing, right? Have the same beliefs, same convictions profess. We should have the same mode of life more not all the time. We're trying to change it because God doesn't change. We also say we have a ten commandments not 10 recommendations. And finally, we should also have access to embrace because the fact that makes us human be fragile. We go help to progress and grow sanctification. Those are the three major roles that we have to worry about as we follow the cre and have access and take advantage of the source of grace that are offered to us through Christ in his church. So those are the things and for us to have all these things we have access to all these three dimensions in our life. We need a structure and that's what the literally ends with today's he said we have apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers and all that. What's he talking about hierarchical church? Our church exists to serve us and not rule us to be holy stones as we last stones into the church filled with life and spirit. We must be God, Christ. And so to do that, we need access to services. And so the role, the hierarchy, if you wish, is to provide us with three things. Part of a good governance you have to have an organization structure action and all that. We need governance. We need teaching remind what our responsibilities are the word of God tells us need teaching and we need again sanctification. We have to be the church to provide us with access to the sacraments. Thus were they paris and not now sad thing perhaps for us Catholics is this we're supposed to be but all this fact which soldiers in this world remind us of the facts and who we identify with all should be our fellow Catholics. They're the first members of our family. We should be closer to the Catholic we pursued in northern Iraq. regard to our national amount. a persecuted person in Iraq spiritually is closer to us than they really how soon are we for example that our fellow or Nigeria really persecuted and slaughtered these days we care about them who's talking about their reading So that's something for us to have to consider in our own lives is that we should have a Catholics in China quite frankly feel we speak to them speak very in in China and the government in China. So the Catholic Church is now under the jurisdiction of the Chinese government there. So the Catholics will be forced to go underground from the church. How serotic speaker in Hong Kong and fight you would you push the truth on he's a prison and to get to have they have to turn to all people Donald Trump he's the only one working sat down on our church pastor today conscience in order to live up to the first God of the first St. In today's gospel, we have the interest we look at and we see Jesus goes up the mountain. Goes up the mountain. What does that remind us of? Reminds us of Moses who went up the mountain to receive the ten commandments. But then he was commanded not to receive commandments but to proclaim the fulfillment of the ten commandments. The gratitudes are the style of gratitudes the format of the gratitudes is well known in the Jewish culture even back then culture as well and it's to show approval of certain ways of life and consolations to God. And you have all those aspects in today's attitudes. The fifth commandments are like a frame and a canvas to a picture. That's all they are. Canvas and a frame. The reactions are painting that goes into that canvas. They give us a good life the values that are pursued and eternal disposition that should be pursued by mature Christian person. Well, the Lord is very blessed our poor spirit. Jesus is saying that Prince should necessarily be monetary poverty, material poverty. He's talking about realism, being realistic for ourselves. Realize that we're very fragile spiritually. We're very fragile physically in our bodies. Our world is very fragile. Our whole civilization can fall apart very quickly. Orig for example the Wi-Fi what happens our civilizations so when you realize that we're fragile human beings I mean spiritual beings where we're buried, predisposed to sinfulness. Then we're humble in spirit. We recognize authority and our need to go. Blessed are those who mourn, who mourn evil in the world, warn our sins. Notice he says when your poor spirit says yours is the king is the kingdom of heaven not will be is which means that we're in this world we're living the beginnings of life we have remember those So we mourn for comfort. We did consolation of God. We mourn our sins and evil world and we God's providential character. Listen to thus meek. What does meek mean? Who's a meek person? A meek person is one who doesn't retaliate or provoke or attack. These are such people also then are have a lot of uh credibility and influence when they correct somebody in a fraternal way. So for example, when Moses and Aaron were attacked by when Moses was attacked by Aaron and his sister participation, Moses didn't confront him directly god situation that's called the scriptures and said you will inherit the Well, there's a sweet land. Blessed are those who hunger in search of righteousness. People who crave righteous mean being justified means being right. Following God's commandments, being reattached to discuss the covenant of God. hundred thirsty some screaming grow in holiness to be more faithful to do more of what is right on the earth and what we seek and he says they will be satisfied fulfilled they will have will become more holy be merciful want mercy mercy forgive us our trespasses for those who trespass your father. You want mercy from God, you got to give it to others. And it's hard sometime especially when somebody hurts us and you don't recognize what they've done when you apologize in that situation. You have to have this position to be forgiving. But the solution has to be there. I recall not to meet, not to go after. And so what goes on with the peacemakers? Peopart means having a real focus above all in all of our life with our pursuits, our priorities, heavy focus first on God and his will. So even when we go to church, our hearts are sure because God is so his is more important than all of the things in my life. This is joy. That's the heart of God without mercy and how we came together. And then says he goes on to be a peacemaker. is somebody who strives to create harmony, harmony with God, for yourselves and for others and harmony with people. And we live in such a way as peacemakers then reconcile. And the reward for all this is thus are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness. So when you do all this you expect to be persecuted in this world. And then Jesus says something very very uh astonishing. He says for his listeners he says follows that blessed are you and persecute you and then I'll be evil against you falsely because of me. So he's saying it's time to be rescued for being the right thing for being with God. We need that sacrifice. He says to be rejoice, be glad. And of course we see in our society it's nice to be Christian sometimes. people that can't even party your life. That's one example. Go to medical school and say you're acting participating in the parish life and you're very selfish. Good luck. I'm I'm to say that uh one of my parishes previously a very very bright bright student. She was on top of her class and she got involved with a team going on there very disturbing the people high school teachers handle that kids but she applied to uh medical school and said our qualifications great martial arts. She was my sheer faithful steward was another parish same situation more and I uh don't tell you church that's a form of persecution too our society said we thank God for among us because they're doing wonderful work through the world. I mentioned for example not just in parish help but some of the work all of us fundraising fellowship organizing breakfast things of that nature but they also do wonderful things on social for example on social issues help finances and they're done. one uh in the last situation. one uh of the candy community are supposed to be terrorists people in their right but we build homes of fashion builds we probably they were driven out of ISIS in Ukraine You're all beautiful. We thank God for different fact. We're all one half family wherever they can deliver. So we thank God for them. We thank our father at the end of the 19th century. He was David Connecticut St. Mary's parish died too. Who would have thought a simple thing about families families growing organization God's grace for us moving forward
