First Hour of Debate on "Roxanne's Law" Takes Place in Canadian Parliament

40th PARLIAMENT, 3rd SESSION
EDITED HANSARD • NUMBER 091
Monday, November 1, 2010
See full debate at http://www2.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/Publication.aspx?Language=E&Mode=1&Parl=40&Ses=3&DocId=4746353

During the parliamentary debate yesterday on Bill C-510, Conservative MP Kelly Block was the only Member to support Rod Bruinooge's attempt to bring about legal protection for those women who don't want the abortions others are trying to impose on them.
As someone correctly pointed out, Conservative MP David Anderson also supported Bill C-510 during debate (he asked a question after Rod's speech, just before Nicole Demers' speech). He is to be commended as well
from Priests for Life Canada
"By obtaining the full cooperation of Catholics across Canada, we can ensure that this bill will pass." "This is a bill we can all support in good conscience." Fr. Tom Lynch, National Director, Priests for Life Canada

(Note that the vote at Second Reading is expected to take place on December 8. If it passes, then Bill C-510 will be referred to the Justice Committee to be studied. If it fails, then C-510--the only abortion-related bill that has come to a vote in Parliament in 20 years, as far as I know--will die. )

Saint Andre Celebrations at Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal, October 31 2010

Below are photos of our trip to Montreal for the Mass of Thanksgiving on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal.

But first, here is a beautiful prayer composed for this Mass which was offered upon the Extended Family of Saint Andre Bessette.  I was so moved by this prayer that I want to share it with you and I pray for this blessing on you too!

God of the living,
although Saint Andre was a man with a vow of chastity,
nonetheless a great family now claims him as their own.
May the members of his family
cherish his memory,
and keep alive the flame of his story.
May they be inspired by his example,
to welcome the stranger with open hands;
attend to the sick with comforting words;
and be a light of hope to those
whom life has beaten down.
And one day, when they have received God's summons,
may they find Brother Andre, heaven’s doorkeeper,
waiting for them with open arms,
welcoming them into the courts of the King of Heaven,
where they will meet Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
by Father Charles Corso, CSC

Following the mass the relatives of Saint Andre were invited to a wonderful Reception. What a joyful day it was!!! Thank you God and thank you to all the friends of Saint Andre at the Oratory!

First here are a few photos of our drive to the Oratory.

We have just arrived and Mike is standing outside of our car
