Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Thank you for joining us in praying this Novena to the Sacred Heart.

Today, let's pray that we might have hearts that are conformed to Jesus' heart.

Let's pray that we may have more forgiving hearts - that we may be like Christ in showing unlimited mercy to others every day.

This version of the novena is attributed to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque. She is most commonly associated with the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

You can share your prayer intentions with us all here. We're praying for you!

Here are the prayers

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.”

Behold I knock, I seek and ask for the grace of…

(Mention your Intention Here)

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.” Behold, in your name, I ask the Father for the grace of…

(Mention your Intention Here)

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O my Jesus, you have said: “Truly I say to you, heaven and earth will pass away but my words will not pass away.” Encouraged by your infallible words I now ask for the grace of…

(Mention your Intention Here)

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, for whom it is impossible not to have compassion on the afflicted, have pity on us miserable sinners and grant us the grace which we ask of you, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, your tender Mother and ours.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Come Holy Spirit - Charismatic Renewal in Canada - the Series

Having its beginnings from a retreat for college students in 1967, The Catholic Charismatic Renewal has been described as a “chance for the Church” (Pope Paul VI), “a special gift of the Holy Spirit” (Pope John Paul II), and is called to share the “current of grace” which is baptism in the Holy Spirit (Pope Francis).

Fr. Bob Bedard speaks about the Holy Spirit, conversion,
the desire of the Lord to be involved in our lives, and authentic religious experience. He speaks about Evangelization as the number one mission of the Church.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray.

O God, who did instruct the hearts of Your faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant that by that same Spirit, we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in his consolation.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I initially intended to research the 1981 conference at Queens University in Kingston and one thing led me to another and this is what I found  ( links below )
I believe that the 1976 Conference in Toronto was the beginning of them. They usually took place in August.

There is also a link to A History of the Renewal in Canada as well as a short story by a friend of Father Joe Kane, which I received permission to share  from Gemma O'Sullivan who is Father Kane's sister
