We're praying for you!

If you've had any prayers answered throughout the novena, you can share those with us all here.

As I reflect on Your second, glorious coming and the judgment of all mankind, I beg You to show me mercy and give me the grace to become a great saint. I pray that not only will I spend eternity with You but that You may use me – a sinner – to bring others into Your Kingdom for Your glory.

Christ the King, Your Kingdom come!

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Christ the King Novena- Day 8

The Feast of Christ the King was created during a time when the world was becoming increasingly nationalistic and secular.

Pope Pius XI responded to the times, and wrote, "While nations insult the beloved name of our Redeemer by suppressing all mention of it in their conferences and parliaments, we must all the more loudly proclaim His kingly dignity and power, (and) all the more universally affirm His rights."

Today, let's pray that God will reign throughout the world.

Here are the prayers for today:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Christ the King Novena - Day 1 to Day 5

Christ the King Novena

https://www.praymorenovenas.com/christ-king-novena

The Feast of Christ the King is a moveable feast that occurs on the last Sunday of the Liturgical year. It is an important feast for all of us! Let’s join in preparing for this feast with a Novena for Christ the King!

Background on this Feast

This feast day was instituted by Pope Pius XI on December 11th in 1925 within the encyclical letter Quas Primas. The Holy Father was responding to the fact that the world was becoming increasingly nationalistic and secular. Governments were claiming more and more allegiance from their citizens and attempting to replace God.

“While nations insult the beloved name of our Redeemer by suppressing all mention of it in their conferences and parliaments, we must all the more loudly proclaim his kingly dignity and power, all the more universally affirm his rights.” – Quas Primas, 25

Pope Pius XI, therefore, created this feast to help the faithful to remember that allegiance to Christ is above any allegiance to government of a nation.

“The faithful, moreover, by meditating upon these truths, will gain much strength and courage, enabling them to form their lives after the true Christian ideal. If to Christ our Lord is given all power in heaven and on earth; if all men, purchased by his precious blood, are by a new right subjected to his dominion; if this power embraces all men, it must be clear that not one of our faculties is exempt from his empire. He must reign in our minds, which should assent with perfect submission and firm belief to revealed truths and to the doctrines of Christ. He must reign in our wills, which should obey the laws and precepts of God. He must reign in our hearts, which should spurn natural desires and love God above all things, and cleave to him alone. He must reign in our bodies and in our members, which should serve as instruments for the interior sanctification of our souls, or to use the words of the Apostle Paul, as instruments of justice unto God.” – Quas Primas, 33

It is particularly important to recognize the words of the encyclical in today’s climate of government intrusion on the Church.

“When we pay honor to the princely dignity of Christ, men will doubtless be reminded that the Church, founded by Christ as a perfect society, has a natural and inalienable right to perfect freedom and immunity from the power of the state; and that in fulfilling the task committed to her by God of teaching, ruling, and guiding to eternal bliss those who belong to the kingdom of Christ, she cannot be subject to any external power.” – Quas Primas, 31

Let us pray to Jesus the King of all nations, he is Christ the King!

40 Days for Life Fall 2021 - Closing Rally - October 31

Today ends this years  40 Days for Life Campaign of Prayer and Fasting to end abortion. My sister Barbara and I plan on being at the vigil site this evening for the  Closing Rally

(southwest corner of Queen Street at Bank Street) at 7:00 pm. I will be attending mass at Notre Dame Cathedral at 5 this evening beforehand and after mass will make my way to the vigil site

Hope to see you there

Ok so I arrived at the vigil site around 6:30 after attending Mass at Notre Dame Cathedral. Barb arrived shortly after. By seven there were between 60 - 70 prayerful souls praise God! The weather was beautiful and there was a really nice lady ( Deanna) passing out chocolate bars which was kind of nice since I love chocolate and I think chocolate should be included as one of the main food groups.

Anyways I took a few videos below

Canada Needs Our Lady - Saturday, October 16, 2021 Noon

My sister Pat and I had initially planned on joining the Noon Hour Prayer Rally at McArthur and Prince of Wales in Ottawa but decided on joining a group on Quincy Ave in Beacon Hill mainly because it was closer to where we lived.  As it turned out nothing was happening at the Quincy location  ( we waited a while) so we decided to pray at Mary's Grotto at the Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church 2414 Ogilvie Road. There were just the two of us along with Mary of course and our Guardian Angels

Genocide in Ireland / 1845-1851

Pilgrimage to Ennistymon
Jimmy Patricia and Maureen

with obituary of our great great grandfather John Maloney
Background to the Maloney Brother's Emigration from Clare click here

“The Irish Famine of 1845 to 1852 was the greatest social calamity, in terms of morality and suffering, that Ireland has ever experienced."

From Ireland's Great Hunger Museum

" More evictions took place in the County here (Clare) than in any other in Ireland. By the time the Famine had ended, up to eighty thousand souls had perished in Clare.

Those who survived this holocaust could rarely bring themselves to speak of it to their children and when they did invariably referred to it indirectly as "An Drochshaol - the Bad Times"

From the memorial in Ennistymon, Clare

“The Great Hunger: Ireland 1845–1849” that “…no issue has provoked so much anger or so embittered relations between the two countries (England and Ireland) as the indisputable fact that huge quantities of food were exported from Ireland to England throughout the period when the people of Ireland were dying of starvation.”

"Cecil Woodham-Smith, noted scholar and author “The Great Hunger”

Expert on Residential Schools Speaks Up - Brian Holdsworth Interviews Dr. Rodney Clifton

"We can't have reconciliation, we can't have harmony, we can't have comradarie  and peace without abiding in the truth. The truth is something that is rare. That is why we value the truth.  Anything that is highly valued tends to be rare. People value precious metal because they are harder to find. Well, the truth is harder to find as well. If you find yourself in a situation where everybody seems to be adopting a narrative that they all think is true and they're swept up in it and they are holding on to it with white knuckled enthusiasm, that has to make you wonder sometimes if the truth is found there." Brian Holdsworth

"Rodney brings a unique perspective, not merely from his own experience, although he does have a great depth of personal experience to share, but also as an expert, as a PHD Sociologist who provided research, and training and teaching through the University of Manitoba, in that capacity he brought together a team of researchers who poured over the vast documentation of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission which was brought together to investigate the history of Residential Schools and to arrive at the Truth of the matter. As he mentions in this interview there are three thousand plus pages in that document and so there are very few people who have actually familiarized themselves with the entirety of that content and even if they have, keeping all that in ordered understanding and perspective is still quite the challenge and that's why so many people rely on the Media to give us the bite sized portions of that or the TRC Summary Report which we discussed in this conversation as well.  I've listened to testimonies. I have read reports and I even read a letter today written by an academic  to his students in which he conceded the worst parts of the Narrative that we have come to adopt about Residential Schools which is Universally negative, let's admit that for a second, and which he also says 'it's wrong to be defensive about this we have to admit our failings and we have to be willing to be able to examine the Truth even if it makes us uncomfortable'" Brian Holdsworth
