Divine Mercy Chaplet,

3:30 Blessed Frederic Museum - Trois Rivieres

Our bus driver drove some of the Pilgrims  to Trois Rivieres to visit the Tomb of Father Frederic. Because I had visited Fr. Frederic's tomb and the museum several times before I decided to stay and listen to the History of the Cape which by the way was so amazing

A little bit of trivia regarding Father Frederic from the Archives of the Legion of Mary

`Jean Normandin, who was a long time friend of Our Lady of the Cape used to accompany the Legion of Mary Pilgrimages to the church where the body of Blessed Father Frederic is resting. Jean recounted many interesting facts about Blessed Father Frederic and shared how he has been present and involved at significant events related to Father Frederic’s history.

If I remember correctly I believe that Jean told us that Father Frederic and Saint Andre of Montreal were good friends.

And the two holy men were indeed close friends. Check out Fr. Frederic's biography at the link below

Salve Regina sung by Bishop Pierre-Olivier Tremblay and Fr. Tim Nelligan

Salve, Regina
Salve, Regina, mater misericordiae;
vita, dulcedo et spes nostra, salve.
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Hevae.
Ad te suspiramus gementes et flentes
in hac lacrimarum valle.
Eia ergo, advocata nostra,
illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte.
Et Iesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui,
nobis post hoc exsilium ostende.
O clemens, o pia, o dulcis Virgo Maria.

Our Lady of the Cape Pilgrimage - August 2018

Co-Hosted by the Shrine
and the Marian Devotional Movement

Celebrating the Queenship of Mother Mary
with Bishop Pierre-Olivier Tremblay o.m.i.,  Rector of the Shrine,
Father Tim Nelligan, Pastor of Blessed Sacrament Parish, Ottawa, ON.
and Dennis and Angelina Girard.

Bishop Tremblay was ordained Auxiliary Bishop of Trois Rivieres on July 22, 2018.
His Motto is UN FEU SUR LA TERRE so you can see evangelization is very dear to the heart of our new Bishop: hmm and Mary is the
STAR OF THE NEW EVANGELIZATION

 Our Journey begins

I was greatly blessed to have two delightful travelling companions, Ann Louise Revells and Jennifer Huestis, both from Blessed Sacrament Parish. During my three days at the Cape I made many new wonderful friends. The majority of the pilgrims were from Blessed Sacrament Parish.

Ann Louise was our driver ( thank you ) and came by my house around 12:15pm Tuesday and the three of us were on our way. We stopped at Rigaud around 3:00pm and visited the Beautiful Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes situated on a lovely hill overlooking the small town.  What a spectacular view!!! Because of highway construction and detours along the way we believe that Mother Mary placed the exit to this lovely town right in front of our noses because there it was and in a split second all three of us said "ok let’s take it" or something like that.

We remained at this Shrine for about an hour and a half and had a lovely picnic sharing all the goodies we brought with us. Thank you mama Mary

I took this photo when we were leaving

We arrived at the Madonna Hotel in Cap de la Madeleine at approximately 6:30pm  and checked in. After taking our luggage to our rooms and  freshening up, we made our way over to the old Shrine to attend mass at 8:00pm. After mass we drove into the town till we found a Tim Horton’s.  Yummy!

After supper we headed back to the hotel and settled in for the night.

Thank you Jesus and Mother Mary for the safe trip and the beautiful day!

Feast of the Coronation of Mary

This was a  quiet day which was actually very nice. I spent most of the time  reading, praying, lighting candles and just looking around. I bought a few souvenirs at the gift shop, and visited the small outdoor Kiosk to request some masses. There was a steady but soft rain on and off all day but it was nice and warm so it didn’t bother me at all. Really it was kind of peaceful.

In the evening five of us had dinner at the Stratos Pizzeria in the town. The company was wonderful and the food was delicious

And of course we all attended  mass for the Feast of the Queenship of Mary celebrated by Bishop Tremblay at 8 at the old  Shrine

After mass we attended a reception in the Basilica basement. There, we were able to venerate approximately 150 first class relics; so amazing! What a blessing!

Going Home

Many of the pilgrims had returned home but for those of us still at the Shrine we had the privilege of attending Mass celebrated by Father Tim Nelligan in the Chapel of the Oblate Residence at 9:00am

After Mass Jennifer and Ann Louise and I prayed the
Sorrowful Mysteries of the rosary  before leaving for Ottawa
( with meditations by Ann Louise )

Thank you to all the pilgrims and  Mama Mary!!!
